St. John’s UCC Senior High Volunteer at Shady Oaks

On Thursday, November 7th, St. John’s Senior High Youth Group volunteered at Shady Oaks camp in Homer Glen.  Shady Oaks is a 30+ acre summer camp, which opened in 1947 to serve children with Cerebral Palsy.  In recent years, the camp has grown to not only accept children with Cerebral Palsy, but people with all disabilities. Since the teenagers were out of school that day, we went to the camp to rake leaves.  The youth did a great job volunteering on the camp grounds, while having a lot of laughs, too.
