LEGO Robotics and Moviemaking: Minecraft (Two courses - both start July 15, Register now)

Children are born explorers. Their natural curiosity and ingenuity help them envision possibilities and develop innovative solutions to difficult technology problems. eFun STEM Academy will challenge your student with authentic, hands-on explorations. The point of eFun STEM Academy is to excite all students about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Prepare to be amazed at what your child can achieve – after all, Einstein and Newton were once children…

No prior LEGO experience or course materials are required. Students will be taught everything they need to know during class. Students will work in teams of two – friends are welcome to sign up as partners.

Minecraft 2 – Survival Bots: New for 2014! This course is based in the exciting and popular world of Minecraft. This course’s all new missions are inspired by Minecraft’s survival mode. You and a partner will work together to build and program a LEGO robot to solve challenges like gathering materials needed for survival, crafting tools, building a home, and finding diamonds. You will also face challenges from Creepers and Endermen! Students will work in pairs, so sign up with a friend for twice the fun! Ages 8-14.

Minecraft Moviemaking: Students will work with a small team to brainstorm/storyboard the plot, design the set, write the script, film the stop-motion animation sequences, and edit/complete production of your masterpiece by adding the voice-overs and background music. Steve, the Creeper, the Enderman, mobs, animals, villagers, spiders, skeletons, and zombies – they’re all here, along with several others. The special theme for this course will be "Minecraft". Special models and mini-figs from this LEGO collection will be provided, though movie-makers will also be welcome to bring their own special LEGOs and mini-figs from home to enhance their storyline. At the end of the course, the completed videos will be made available so students can show them to their family and friends. Students will work in pairs, so sign up with a friend for twice the fun! Ages 7-13.
