November collection drive supports Troops at Christmas

A collection drive has been set up for the month of November to help ‘Send Santa To The Troops’.  Operation Care Package, Inc. in Joliet was started in 2003, with a mission to support our military personnel around the world with care packages and letters of encouragement.  This year, they hope to send 10,000 Christmas Care Packages to the men and women who keep our country free.  Christmas Packs include many of the necessities in their regular packages, along with loads of treats from Santa.  You can help bring some Christmas Spirit to these Heroes by:   

Donating $12.95 to help ship one care package.

Sponsoring a care package with a $25 donation. You may also include a personalized letter of support addressed to : ANY HERO (Please make checks payable to: OPERATION CARE PACKAGE and enclose your check, card, or letter of support in an unsealed envelope.) 

Purchasing and donating an item(s) from the Wist List. 

Most needed items are:

• Canned soup and canned fruit.
• Beef Jerky
• Granola Bars
• Batteries (AA and AAA)
• Sausage Sticks (6 to 12 oz. size)
• Hand held Games, DVD’s and CD’s
• Adult Board Games
• New or gently used musical instruments (harmonicas, horns, acoustic guitars, violins, banjos)

 Other items needed are:

• Cards & letters of support to 'Any Hero'
• Phone cards 120 min AT&T
• Hot Chocolate & Hot Cider Packets
• Chocolate bars & kisses
• Small Christmas Trees (8 to 18 inches tall)
• Christmas Stockings (10-16 in. tall x 5-6 in. wide)
• Sweat pants and blanket throws
• Chapstick, Lotions, Wet Wipes
• Toothbrush/Toothpaste
• Unused Postage Stamps
• Socks-Men’s (white/black-work crew)
• Zip lock bags (quart and gallon size)

Please drop off donations to any of the following locations by November 30.  Store hours vary, and are listed on their web site and facebook page.
