Diners Say Farewell to Enrico's (Video)

Customers share their thoughts about the closing of Enrico's Italian Dining, which closed the doors on the building it has occupied for 38 years.

Saying goodbye to someone or something you love is never an easy task to do. After serving Italian food to Frankfort residents since 1974,  is saying farewell to its community.

Patch wanted to give residents the chance to say goodbye, as well. Whether it was customers' first evening there or they had been coming for more than 30 years, they all seemed sad knowing this would be their last meal at Enrico's.

What was your favorite memory at Enrico's Italian restaurant? Had a favorite menu on the item? Tell us in the comments below.

Last night around 10pm, my wife, kids and I were handed the final Banana Cream Pie made by Enrico's (or, at least in the old venue). Harry had gone back and hand-made it for us as the final minutes of Enrico's wound down. He came out with a smile on his face and placed it on our table and said it was on the house. Those who would endeavor to begin an enterprise of long-lasting sustainability, learn from Enrico's. They are for their community, not demanding it to be the other way round. This is how it's done. I'm counting down the days until I get the FIRST Banana Cream Pie at the NEW Enrico's. Class act. Class act. Those delicious bites of that Final BCP are going to be delicious because of it's maker. (But, it'll be sweet and great because it was made by a master of relationship.)

My mother-in-law has worked here for years. I have had everything on this menu more than once. I have so many memories here. Nacho night with the girls, mine and my sisters wedding rehearsals, my wedding shower, many Packer games on the big screen, karoke nights, where family would relive great memories after a wake or funeral. My BEST memory...meeting my husband for the first time here 15 years ago. Then having our son sit and the table we met at. Took a picture of that, wow! Thank you for all the memories and friends we have made over the years!

I worked at Enrico’s for ten years and I would need to write a book to list all the memories. I miss and love you all. Mrs. D’s love for popcorn and the Packers , and her dislike for H2O. Mr. D’s eyes lighting up every time he sees me and wanting me to sit with him in his car and talk. Him telling guests to “take their time and enjoy life!” while we had over an hour wait. I have learned a lot of life lessons not only from Harry but from the guests and staff. As I am looking at all the pics I am flooded with memories. It was definitely family. A lot of the staff had theirs kids , brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews working there with them so I can’t think of one without the other. No matter if you were a guest or an employee I value the time I have spent with you. When one door closes another door opens; How about moving to Portland Oregon? P.S. I remember watching lots of Bears games there. Go Bears!
