Mokena's 2013 Fourth of July Celebration Attracts a Crowd
Mokena's 2013 Fourth of July celebration started out with the parade that stepped off at 10 a.m. and concluded with fireworks at dusk.
Mokena residents celebrated the Fourth of July in grand style. the annual parade stepped off at 10 a.m. along Wolf Road through downtown Mokena.
Waving flags, laughing and enjoying the camaraderie that comes with the Fourth of July celebration, parade-goers collected candy from passing floats, saluted veterans, cheered the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and applauded for the marching bands. It was an all-American celebration of this nation's freedom.
In the evening, the fireworks began at dusk at Main Park, 10925 LaPorte Road. The crowd blanketed the lawn with blankets and summer folding chairs.
