You Picked It, We Sang It: Patch Editors Perform Readers' Choice of Worst Holiday Song

Last week, we asked Patch readers which holiday song drives them the craziest. They gave us their answer and we performed it.

Beating out such Christmas "classics" as Have a Holly Jolly Christmas, Wonderful Christmastime and I Farted on Santa's Lap, the Wham! song Last Christmas was for the absolute worst, most annoying holiday song there is.

So of course, we had to sing it for you.

Performing from in Tinley Park, your local Patch editors, aka 'Outta Sync, aka The Rhythmless Nation, aka Dennis' Menaces, bring you George Michael's classic tale of love, loss and awesome '80s hair.

Enjoy and Merry Christmas.

(although we're done singing).

Merry Christmas! I enjoyed my laugh for the day, thank you so much for doing this!! I would of course preferred my song but since I did not get it I appreciate this one :)

I want a recount
Ben Feldheim (Editor) December 26, 2011 at 05:44 AM
Jack, we could use more singers. Care to join? Nancy, thanks. We'll be seeking out pro bono vocal coaches for next year. Russ, are you really saying you want to hear us sing again? Think about that for a second.
Russ December 26, 2011 at 02:34 PM
I am reviewing the situation. ahhh Good point Ben.
Mr. Jack December 26, 2011 at 03:50 PM
Ben, thanks for the invite. However, if I were to join in the vocals, you guys would lose all of your readership!
Ben Feldheim (Editor) December 26, 2011 at 04:36 PM
Jack, I was a little worried that'd be the result of this whole thing. Thanks for playing along everyone.

What about the dogs singing Jingle Bells????
Joe Vince (Editor) December 27, 2011 at 02:26 AM
@Concerned Citizen: I think if you listen closely I actually sound like one of the canines in that dog chorus. Joe Vince Local editor, Frankfort

HA! YOU GUYS ROCK! That's GOTTA be the BEST video I think I've seen all holiday. Thank you! :)
Sophia Fregosi December 27, 2011 at 05:56 PM
That's some holiday spirit!

Good job guys. That was hilarious
Nicole Ball December 27, 2011 at 06:01 PM
OMG! Love this! I wish our Patch region (CT) did this! Nice job editors on a really bad song! Happy holidays!

This is hilarious! But I have to disagree with this being the worst Christmas song. I LOVE this song! You rule, George Michael!
Lauren Traut (Editor) December 27, 2011 at 06:08 PM
I don't know about you guys, but the dance moves at the end really rocked my socks off. Renita was a star!
Lauren Traut (Editor) December 27, 2011 at 06:12 PM
Korrina, we left it up to our readers to decide and it was a VERY close race between this and "I Farted on Santa's Lap." ...I'm really relieved this won. :) BUT I agree, I sing this every time I hear it on the radio. And I particularly enjoy the Glee version, as well.

What has been seen cannot be unseen.
Judy Yublosky December 27, 2011 at 06:18 PM
Very cute!!! Kudos to all. Although I have to admit this is my all time favorite song.......ever. Even after your rendition of it......
Ben Feldheim (Editor) December 27, 2011 at 06:55 PM
Glad to hear this didn't totally kill the song for people who like it.
Paul Dailing December 27, 2011 at 06:57 PM
Hey, thanks for the shout-out!
Paul Dailing December 27, 2011 at 07:07 PM
You're welcome. Thanks for nominating it.
Sue N. December 27, 2011 at 08:24 PM
Sorry - Just getting around to seeing this. Great job Patch editors. I voted for this, and instead of just hating this song, I now have something fun to think of the next time I hear it. Would be interested in seeing the 12-20 version too. LOL
Steve Burke December 28, 2011 at 01:37 AM
Why did Ryan chicken out?
Paul Dailing December 28, 2011 at 09:25 AM
Ryan was cameramanning during the song. The real question is why did Carrie, Lorraine, Dennis and the rest chicken out. (Chicago Heights Patch Editor Chris Paicely has the best excuse; his wife was giving birth to their new son.)
Ryan Fitzpatrick (Editor) December 28, 2011 at 11:08 AM
Yeah—what Paul said.
Oleg Rudnitskiy December 28, 2011 at 04:01 PM
I think those who chickened out should gather and perform the song that came in second...?
Kym Byrnes December 29, 2011 at 08:10 AM
I think there may be a Maryland Patch region who might want to challenge you to a sing off next year. Doug Donovan, what do you think?
Felicia Mello January 03, 2012 at 06:28 PM
Adorable. This is, in fact, the most annoying Christmas song ever. I had it stuck in my head all season, but didn't realize it was from the '80s!
