See how your neighbors reacted to the week's news with this collection of reader comments collected from the site, from our Facebook page and elsewhere.

The biggest feedback news this week is the 33 new fans we added to the Mokena Patch Facebook page, in large part (I like to think) due to .

We're still looking for more "likes" to help destroy these wonderful people, so take a moment and "Like" the Mokena Patch Facebook page.

Overheard on Facebook

In response to illustrating the predicted shortfall might face...

Jody Becker Olson ‎Two years ago, a nearby district found themselves from "in the black" to $6 million "in the red" due to the economy. The devastation was swift and continues to cheat its children of the most powerful tool they have to survive and succeed. The LW area has avoided the "bullet" longer than many of its neighbors (mostly due to its dedicated and able tax payers). But in the end, our education system, as a whole, is going to die if the economy does not find a way to survive.

Another big talker was a reminder that ...

Sue Novotny yup...officially broke now :( Metra board members better not be getting any bonuses if they're so financially strapped

Suzi Voss Between my 70 mile tollway commute (yes, each way) to school and my husband's monthly Metra ticket for work, we're going to be living on rice and broth around here soon.

We ran this week, eliciting the exact response we wanted from one local parent...

Terri Schmitt Way to go Eric!!! Mom and Dad are so proud of you!

Another moment of "This is the exact response we were hoping to get" came when we posted information on with ...

Tami Pareti I just placed my order...and will also get some pizza for dinner tonight!! :)

It was a big week for food talk, with readers sharing tips for and we run with Frankfort and New Lenox Patches.

; this week . Tons of responses, especially to pizza. "Like" the page to see them all, but here's my favorite because it told me something I didn't know.

Sue Novotny A lot of people seem to think about () for candy or ice cream only, but they have coffee and tea too. If anyone likes tea, I love their vanilla chai tea too!

Voices Speak Out on Mokena Patch

There were tons of comments on the site, ranging from to .

But my favorite comments also came from my favorite story of the week.

In response to , we got to hear what the kids themselves thought. Via their teachers, of course...

Thank you for sharing our special day in such a fun way!! The kindergartners loved watching the video. Mrs. Horvath and Friends

My students also enjoyed seeing themselves and their friends on the video and in the pictures. I had a great time celebrating the 100th Day of school with my Kindergarten Friends. Always something fun in Kindergarten!

What a fun day in Kindergarten! My students and I had so much fun doing everything the 100th way! Thanks again for the great pictures and video. My students and I loved it!!!

Reviews Pour In

We’re thrilled to see some new reviews in our Patch Places directory this week. Here’s a sampling of what community members are saying about local businesses:

  • wrote about : Fresh and simple, nothing tastes like it was pre made. Best pumpkin pancakes, strawberry chicken salad, chicken noodle soup. I have never had a bad meal here. The other location is equal in quality.
  • wrote about : Great Pizza and Sauce is the best Great Crust, and Thickness is awsome!!
  • went simpler in her review of Tony's Villa Rosa: Awesome food!!!!
  • gave some protips in her review of : Great food! Love how thin their pizza crust is and their sausage is the best. Soups and sandwiches are good too. My favorite is The O'Brien! One of the best things about this place is when Keith Benson is there! Best entertainer that have. Change his music up for the whatever crowd is there. Only bad thing is if going for pizza, I recommend avoiding Tuesdays. At this one and their Orland location, it's 1/2 price pizza night. They tend to skimp on the ingredients on Tuesdays, so its not as good. Would rather get it on another night and use a coupon or pay full price.
