I Love Mokena! What Can $10 Buy You in Mokena?

How about a trip back to the olden days, with a ride on a tractor-pulled tram, stopping at some of the most exquisite, unique and beautiful homes, gardens in Mokena? Sound good?

Welcome back.

The good old days in Mokena. Times were simpler. Life's little pleasures seemed so much more important. What we wouldn't give to visit those days again.

How about ten dollars?

Yep, just ten dollars.

On June 23, any time between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., show up at, 11100 W. 2nd Street, with just a saw buck. You will then be politely escorted to a luxurious open air tram. This isn't any run of the mill tram. This conveyance is pulled by an honest to goodness, real life tractor. Just like the ones they use on a farm.

This tractor and tram will then whisk you away to the first stop on this year's , sponsored by the Mokena Historical Society.

Since 2004 the Historical Society has regularly showcased some of the most exquisite, unique and beautiful homes, gardens and other noteworthy sites in the entire Chicagoland area, which just happen to be in our beautiful little village. As in past years you can expect some wonderful surprises along the way.

This highly anticipated event, almost one year in the planning, is made possible by some 40 or more volunteers, who proudly give their time to help bring this tour to light.

Advanced tickets can be purchased at the office, at Mokena Village Hall, Mokena Chamber of Commerce and at the Saturday Downtown Market. Tickets are also available the day of the event. Information on the event can be obtained by visiting mokena.org and clicking on "House and Garden Tour". Click here to visit the website directly.

The House and Garden Tour, yet another great event that takes place in our very long and enjoyable festival season.

And speaking of enjoyable, the Saturday Downtown Market continues to amaze. This past Saturday over 1,600 (yes, that's one thousand six hundred!) attendees visited the market. WOW!

There's a lot to love in Mokena.
