I Love Mokena: What Do You Want to See at the French Market?

What would you like to see at the market that takes over the Metra parking lot on weekends in the summer?

Welcome back.

We've recently discussed suggestions for new businesses in our beautiful little village. An impressive number of ideas were received, and continue to come in.

A few of the more recent submissions mentioned farmers' markets. For the last nine years Mokena has hosted a French Market at parking lot.

The seasonal French Market has many of the staples you would expect to see at an outdoor market. Fruits, vegetables, flowers and other freshly grown or artisan type prepared products are available.

This is a great opportunity to reach out for additional suggestions. Friends and neighbors, here is your chance. Send me a note and tell me what types of vendors you would like to see peddling their wares at the French Market. If its a product or service that you've encountered at other outdoor markets then by all means let me know where that is.

As promised, I have contact information for another suggested new Mokena business. Erbert and Gerbert's Sandwich Shops have been around for more than 20 years. They have more than 50 locations in Wisconsin, Minnesota, North and South Dakota and Georgia. If you're a fan of the movie "Fargo" you may recognize some of the towns where they've set up shop.

If you would like Erbert and Gerbert's to open a shop in Mokena then drop them a line and let them know what a great place it is to do business, home of the most friendly and helpful people they've never met.

Next week I'll be posting the contact information for another business from the list of suggestions you've graciously submitted.

Always finding more reasons to love Mokena.

. Many of the milestones that help us get through the winter are coming fast. Next up, Groundhog Day and another Superbowl the Bears won't be playing in.
