It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's a Casting Call!
There's a casting call coming to the 'burbs and it's not what you think.
Are you as geeked as I am about Autumn Frost? I've never been so excited about a movie that doesn't exist.
Autumn Frost is actually the studio code name for the new Superman movie, Man of Steel. Disguised as mild-mannered Autumn Frost, Man of Steel will be shooting in Chicago and, of all places, Plano this August and September.

If you can't make it to the casting calls, you can apply online to be an extra at the Autumn Frost website. I did.
With that in mind (and hoping the powers that be of Metropolis are reading), here are some Superman extra roles where I would shine.

Speaking roles:
- Daily Planet staffer who says "Where's Kent?"
- Guy Superman saves who unwittingly offers an important plot point. (i.e., "Thanks for stopping that mugger, Superman! Now I can make it to Lex Luthor's demonstration of his new, glowing, green energy source that could take out the eastern seaboard.")
- Louis Lane, Superman's freeloading brother-in-law. "'Sup, brah? Could you, like, 'super' me a ride to the bus depot? I'm meeting this girl."
- Batman
Non-speaking roles:
- Daily Planet staffer who doesn't say "Where's Kent?"
- Guy who looks up in the sky after someone else yells for him to do so.
- Smallville malt shop employee slowly sweeping in the background as a young Clark Kent mulls his limitless future. I don't look up from my sweeping, just go about my familiar job with a menial rote. Sometimes I see my crumbled dreams in the Smallville dust.
- Robin
So, wish me luck whether I get cast as a mugger who gets a lamppost tied around him, the guy who yells "It's a bird!" or one of the scientists who don't believe Krypton's about to blow up.
I'll keep you up to date on my progress as things develop. And as my friend Andre pointed out, it'll be easy to get a second audition from the Superman people.
"When they reject me, I'll just take my glasses off and get in line again," he said. "That always works."
