2 Men Busted on Drug Charges Outside Mokena Motel

Police said they found cocaine, marijuana and a 12 gauge shotgun when they investigated two men sitting in a parked car near the Super 8 motel.

Two man face drug possession charges after police found them with cocaine and a shotgun.

John J. Porter, 29, of the 10000 block of West 145th Street in Orland Park, and Christopher A. Hannigan, 21, of the 8100 block of Blarney Road in Tinley Park, were charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana, according to a report.

Police were patrolling the Super 8 Motel, 9485 W 191st St., at about 5:26 a.m. on March 28 when two men were spotted inside a parked car. An officer saw a commotion between the two men and the light suddenly switch off as he approached.

One man, Hannigan, tried to quickly walk away from the car, according to the report. An officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol and marijuana coming from him when they spoke. Hannigan said he was staying at the Motel but failed to show a keycard or say what room he was in.

Porter told police he was dropping off Hannigan, according to the report. An officer allegedly saw a white powder on Porter’s nostrils. While looking inside the parked car, police could see a rolled up dollar bill on the passenger side floor and a CD case with a white powder all over it.

Police found a clear plastic bag with a green leafy substance in the passenger side door during a search, according to the report. Another plastic baggie with two large white powdery “rocks” was inside the center console and a clear plastic cigarette wrapper with a white powder was in the rear pocket of the front passenger seat.

Officers also discovered a 12 gauge shotgun inside a black canvas shotgun case. No charges were filed related to the gun.

While in custody, Porter told police both he and Hannigan ingested cocaine. A test of the white powdery substance showed a positive result for cocaine. Police also texted the green leafy substance for the presence of marijuana.
