Two drivers were injured Monday morning during an accident in Mokena that caused at least one of the vehicles to roll over.

The crash happened near 187th Street and Wolf Road around 7 a.m., according to Mokena Fire Deputy Chief Joe Cirelli. A Chevy Blazer was driving east on 187th Street when the driver apparently reached down for an e-cigarette that fell, according to Mokena Police Commander Dan Rankovich.

While the driver reached to pick up the e-cigarette, the Blazer swerved into the westbound lane and struck a Chrysler 300 head on, Rankovich said.

“Extrication was needed for both drivers,” Cirelli said. “Each car had only one occupant.”
