A Little Coke, A Little Weed and Big Trouble: Blotter

Mokena police reports, March 2-9.

SATURDAY, MARCH 9

Theft From Walgreens

Elisha M. Sefcik, 28, and Bryan G. Sefcik, 27, both of the 200 block of South Raynor Avenue in Joliet, were charged with retail theft, according to a report. Police allege they took over-the-counter medication, a Boom Cube portable speaker, and baby products and toiletries from Walgreens, 20002 S. Wolf Rd.

Elisah also was cited for driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance, unlawful use of a driver’s lciense, failure to surrender license, failure to wear a seat belt and fleeing and eluding, according to the report. Bryan was cited for unauthorized person to driver, failure to notify the Secretary of State’s Office of an address change and failure to wear a seat belt. They are due in Will County court on April 10.

FRIDAY, MARCH 8

Outstanding Warrant

Channa Kan, 25, of the 500 block of Plainfield Road in Joliet, was arrested on an outstanding failure-to-appear warrant for driving with a suspended license from the Will County Sheriff’s Office, according to a report. He was picked up at about 3:50 p.m. on La Grange Road near I-80. He is due in Will County court on April 9.

SATURDAY, MARCH 2

Pot, Cocaine Possession

Jose G. Reyes, 23, of the 2300 block of Des Plaines Street in Blue Island, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, delivery of marijuana, 30 grams or less, possession of marijuana, 30 grams or less and possession of drug equipment, according to a report. Police allegedly saw a car with two men sitting inside, lighting a pipe with a cigarette lighter. An officer who knocked on the car’s window reported smelling a strong odor of burnt marijuana.

The driver, Reyes, told the officer “Please don’t arrest me. We were just smoking up," according to the report. A search of Reyes allegedly turned up a baggie of a green leafy substance and a baggie of a white powdery substance. He told the officer he “bouth the cocaine from a guy at a bar in Blue Island” and the marijuana from a friend in Orland. He also said he intended to sell some of the weed to make money.

Police recovered a scale, a grinder and several “dime baggies," according to the report. The passenger, Michael A. Arellano, 20, of the 12200 block of Artesian Avenue in Blue Island, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
