Caller Threatens L-W Central; Police at 4 Schools

For the second time in about two months, an anonymous caller threatened Lincoln-Way Central High School. Police believe a call Monday came from the same person, and they don't believe there is a threat on the school.

Police responded to the four Lincoln-Way high schools Monday morning after receiving a call threatening in New Lenox.

District 210 administration called parents to say that school was "proceeding as normal" and that additional police were at all four schools.

Lincoln-Way spokeswoman Stacy Holland said an anonymous man called the Will County Sheriff's Department and threatened the high school early Monday morning before classes started.

A caller , and police believe it was the same person who called 911 today. In that incident, an untraceable phone was used and police weren't able to track the call.

The Sheriff's Department didn't immediately return phone calls seeking more information.

"They quickly determined it was the same caller they're working with other levels of law enforcement to try to apprehend the guy," Holland said.

I agree with you. What better way to try and get out of school or class?? I was thinking the same thing.

I have to agree with the prank conclusion. As many others pointed out, why would an actual shooter give warning. A person who would so something like that would be mentally unstable and wouldn't call in advance.

Any call like that gets treated as a serious threat. As many commenters have pointed out, it only takes one time, one letdown, to have a catastrophe. Our law enforcement professionals are not at liberty to discuss certain aspects as this is an ongoing investigation. Don Labriola, Chairman, Lincolway Public Safety Dispatch Center.

I would have to assume that this person is using a cell phone to call the 911 center as from what I hear you can use a disconnected cell phone to contact 911. I may be wrong about that, but there is also a cell phone store directly across from the school. I did recieve a call this time and I didn't see any extra police when I picked my kid up that afternoon but I assume they were there for part of the day. My kid never mentioned the incident...
