An elderly New Lenox woman fell victim to an apparent ruse burglary.

An elderly woman was visited by a stranger on July 17 at her home in the 100 block of West Woodlawn Road, according to a Will County Sheriff's Officereport. The man spoke about a fence in the back of her house.

The victim discovered that cash was stolen from a bedroom in the home, the report states.

A man knocked loudly and rang the doorbell repeatedly at the woman's home at about 2 p.m., the report states. When the New Lenox woman answered, she walked out into her driveway while speaking with the man.

After a short conversation, the stranger received a call on a hand-held radio and left, the report states. That's when the woman discovered that the money was missing.

The man drove a gray pickup truck with a white stripe, which was parked in the driveway during the conversation, according to the report.

No arrests were reported.
