Fire Forced Man & Woman to Leap Out 3rd Story Window: Lawsuit

The man and woman, along with a second woman allegedly injured in the 2011 fire, are suing the property owners.

A man and woman claiming they were injured when a 2011 apartment fire forced them to leap for their lives from a third-story window are suing the building's owners.

Kenneth and Brenda Stennett, along with Nicole McDaniel, named Glenn and Susan Tibble as defendants in the lawsuit filed in Will County court.

The Stennetts dove out a window on the third floor of 120 Twin Oaks Drive, the lawsuit said. The same suit said McDaniel was injured in the November 2011 fire but does not specify how.

The Stennetts and McDaniel accused the Tibbles of failing to conduct timely and proper inspections of the building's common areas, failing to properly equip common areas with smoke detectors, failing to maintain what smoke detectors were in the common areas, and failing to provide sufficient fire escapes.
