Identity Thefts, Burglary to Vehicles: Police Blotter

Mokena police reports from July 10-16.

FRIDAY, JULY 13

Identity Theft No. 1

Anna B. Fanelli, 47, of the 19500 block of S. Wolf Road, contacted after somebody used her business's debit card information to make a $400 purchase in Dearborn, Mich. She told officers she had never been to Michigan and did not authorize anyone to make such a purchase.

Identity Theft No. 2

Colleen P. Stroh, 61, of the 11100 block of Second Street, notified police that somebody had used her personal information to make nearly $300 worth of purchases. She told officers her bank notified her of the purchases, which where made in Georgia. She told police that she had not left the state, nor had she authorized the purchases.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 11

Burglary to Vehicle

Kimberly L. Kratochivil, 41, of the 19400 block of Tramore Lane, notified police that some time between 10:30 p.m. on July 10 and 1:22 p.m. on July 11, somebody broke into her car and took a backpack from the vehicle. There was no damage to the car, although the victim was unsure if she left the car unlocked overnight. There are no suspects or witnesses.

Burglary to Vehicle (Next Door)

Colleen J. Forouzi, 34, of the 19400 block of Tramore Lane, told police that some time between 7:30 p.m. July 10 and 3 a.m. July 11, an unknown person(s) broke into her car, taking her purse. She told police her car was unlocked at the time of the theft. She added that whoever took her purse, used her debit card and credit card to make purchases totaling more that $1,100 to the Airsoft Megastore website. Forouzi attempted to contact the website to find out a mailing adress for the purchases, but was unable to make contact.

TUESDAY, JULY 3

Identity Theft No. 3

Jeanne M. Miller, 35, of the 11400 block of Abbey Road, filed an identity theft report with Mokena Police. Miller told officers that she was notified by Macy's that somebody had tried to use her information to open a credit card there, but was declined. She also told officers that somebody used her information to open a Wal-Mart Discover card in Nottingham, Maryland and made more that $2,500 worth of purchases.
