Lincoln-Way Central Junior Hit By Bus

Teen was riding his bike when he was hit by a school bus.

A junior at Lincoln-Way Central student was hit by a school bus this morning as he rode his bicycle to school, according to a press release from Lincoln-Way High School District 210.

The accident happened around 7:30 this morning, said April DiSanto, deputy police chief in New Lenox. She said the student was riding his bike north on Cedar Road when the bus in front of him made a right-hand turn on to Second Street.

The student was pinned under the bus and was pulled out when the bus was lifted off  him, said New Lenox Fire Protection District Chief Jon Mead.

Mead said the student was taken to Silver Cross Hospital for injuries. As of 3:30 p.m. Thursday, the student was in stable condition and might go home as early as Friday, DiSanto said.  

There were 30 students on the bus when the accident happened, but none of them were injured, according to the release from District 210. Their parents were "quickly notified of the accident."
