Mokena Firefighters to Teach Seniors about Kitchen Fire Safety

The Mokena Fire Protection District is planning its annual senior luncheon.

The Mokena Fire Protection District is having a seniors luncheon. The topic is kitchen fire safety.

The MFPD has numerous programs that support the community, and the seniors luncheon is just one of the events aimed at helping to prevent fires in the home.

The event is slated for Sept. 9 at Mokena Fire Station No. 1, 19853 S. Wolf Road. To register, call 708-470-5371 or register online at mfpd@mokenafire.org.

Be sure to check out the CPR classes offered throughout the year. The next available class is Aug. 19.

The District offers monthly CPR/AED classes for the public. The non-refundable course fee is $27 or $37 for health care providers. The cost covers books, materials and instructor fees. There must be a minimum of six students enrolled to hold the class. Class size is limited to 12 students.

The class is held from 6-9 p.m. at Station No. 1, 19853 S. Wolf Road. Students are instructed in adult and infant CPR. A CPR card from the American Safety and Health Institute is issued to all those who successfully complete the course
