Mokena Man Charged With DUI After Frankfort Hit-and-Run Accident

Frankfort police stopped a driver after witnesses reported seeing a car rear-ending another near LaGrange and Laraway roads. Officers said the driver was unaware he was involved in an accident.

A driver who police said fled the scene of a car accident and was subsequently charged with driving under the influence of alcohol May 12 was not aware he had struck another vehicle, according to Frankfort police.

Daniel Biciste, 33, of the 9200 block of West Willow Lane in Mokena, was charged with driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, failure to give information about an accident, leaving the scene of an accident and disregarding a traffic control device after an incident near the intersection of LaGrange and Laraway roads. 

Frankfort Police officers responded to a call around 11:45 a.m. about a woman being struck from behind in her car by another vehicle, Cmdr. Kevin Keegan said. Witnesses saw a gold four-door Honda flee the scene, and a community service officer saw the car driving southbound on LaGrange, past Nebraska Street, Keegan said. A police officer pulled over Biciste, who said he didn't realize he had been in an accident.

Biciste was given a field sobriety test, then brought to the police station where he was charged. He was released on bond, and his next court date is June 5.

No one was injured in the accident.
