Car Damage
Nicholas J. Smith, 22, of the 19800 block of Schoolhouse Road in Mokena was charged with criminal damage to property after a woman told police Smith punched her car mirror outside his home around 10 p.m. Police responded to the domestic dispute and found Smith’s hand bleeding.
Property Burglarized for Fourth Time
Police said several locked trailers in the 19100 block of Blackhawk Parkway were burglarized sometime between 7 p.m. March 29 and 6:30 a.m. March 30. The locks were cut and several pieces of lawn care equipment were stolen, though the property owner had not turned over a list of specific items at the time of the report. He told police it was the fourth time his property had been burglarized.

THURSDAY, MARCH 29
Swerving, Speeding with Alcohol
John W. Malloy, 28, of the 10900 block of Front Street in Mokena was charged with driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol, speeding and improper lane usage after another driver reported seeing Malloy’s car swerving into oncoming traffic. Police said Malloy failed field sobriety tests but refused to take a Breathalyzer after stopping his car in the 11100 block of Front Street, around 8 p.m., for speeding. An inventory report of the car includes a bottle of Dmitri Vodka.

TUESDAY, MARCH 27
Gypsy Ruse
A 12-gauge shotgun, cash and gold jewelry were among items reported stolen from a home in the 19400 block of Cherry Street in what resembles a common "gypsy ruse."The homeowner told police he received a knock on his door, around 3 p.m., from a Hispanic man posing as his new neighbor and wanting to show where he was planning to make improvements between their properties. After a 20-minute conversation in the back yard, during which the man answered two phone calls in Spanish, they returned to the front to find another Hispanic man waiting. The two drove away in a silver Ford pickup with no front license plate and a dropped tailgate that was blocking the back one, according to the homeowner.
MONDAY, MARCH 26
Cops Confiscate Man's Cash
Two Orland Park men, Atta S. Muhdi, 19, of the 15100 block of 82nd Avenue and Quayshawn L. Starks, 19, of the 9200 block of Hunter Drive, were charged with possession of cannabis after police approached their car outside the closed Beggar’s Pizza, shortly before midnight, and smelled marijuana. Police said they found 3.7 grams of marijuana between them and confiscated $470 cash belonging to Starks “in accordance with the Illinois Cannabis Control Act.”
