Mokena Teen Struck, Killed by Train: Coroner

The 17-year-old was found early Thursday morning.

A 17-year-old Mokena girl was found dead along Rock Island Railway tracks early Thursday morning, the Will County Coroner's office reported.

Lauren K. Carollo was a pedestrian who was struck by a train. She was pronounced dead at 12:05 a.m. near the tracks, about 300 feet east of Schoolhouse Road, according to the coroner.

Preliminary autopsy results show Carollo died from multiple injuries from a train striking a pedestrian. 

Metra police are investigating.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Vandenberg Funeral Home in Mokena.
