Police Blotter: 3 Cars Burglarized in Same Street

New Lenox police reports, April 16-20.


DUI Charge

Daniel Wilson, 28, of the 100 block of Pottawatomie Lane in New Lenox, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police were called to the McDonald's in Route 30 in response to Wilson's driving. He was given a ticket and released.

Tax Fraud

A resident told police someone used her personal information to file a false tax return. 


Vehicle Burglaries

The car burglaries were reported early Tuesday morning, all in the 200 block of Linden Oaks Drive. The first caller said she heard glass breaking at about 4:45 a.m., and when she looked outside the window she saw an unknown person walking away with her purse.

Two more cars on that block had their windows broken. A work bag was stolen from one car and a purse was taken from another. 

Residential Burglary

Someone stole a video game console and two purses from a home in the 400 block of Livingston Drive.

Suspended License

Gabriel Alavarez, 49, of Joliet, was ticketed for driving with a suspended license, expired registration and no insurance.

Why in the the world would a person leave a purse in a vehicle ? They are asking for trouble by leaving valubles out in the open for predators.

Why was someone given a ticket for DUI and released? Aren't people charged with DUi suppose to go to jail, not released to get back in their car? Just curious.
