Police Blotter: Burglaries Abound; New Zealander Buys, Mokena Man Pays

Car Vandalized

A resident in the 10800 block of West 191st Street reported that someone had spray painted an insult on her car in four places and dumped white paint on top of the car between 6 p.m. and 1:30 a.m., police said.

Burglary from Motor Vehicle

A resident in the 9900 block of Giles Drive reported that someone had smashed the driver's side window and stolen a pair of sunglasses overnight.

Wallet Stolen During Lunch

An Orland Park woman reported that her wallet had been stolen off the counter while she was dining at a restaurant on the 19100 block of South Wolf Road around noon, police said. The wallet contained a driver's license, cash, and several other items.

THURSDAY, JULY 28

Car, Gadget and More Stolen

A resident in the 11500 block of West 191st Street reported that someone had entered the garage overnight, stealing a gray Pontiac G6 and other items, police said. Spare change and the key to a Honda Pilot were also stolen from the garage. Two iPods, a cell phone, and an I-Pass transponder were stolen from other family cars. The Pontiac contained several items, including an iPod Touch and a cell phone. A laptop and several credit cards were reported stolen from the home. Police discovered that a rear window had been left open and the garage door was unlocked.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 27

Credit Card Fraud Foiled

A Mokena woman reported that someone had attempted to use her debit card to pay a bill. No money was taken from the account, police said.

Money and Jewelry Stolen

A couple in the 18700 block of Creekview Lane reported that someone entered the home overnight through the attached garage and stole money and jewelry from the residence, police said.

TUESDAY, JULY 26

Clothes Dry, Wallet Gone

A resident in the 11400 block of Hummingbird Lane reported his wallet had been stolen from the laundry room sometime over the night, police said. The resident told police he left the overhead garage door open and the door to the laundry room unlocked.

Bikes Stolen After Fall

A resident in the 11600 block of Roberts Road reported two bicycles had been stolen sometime after 7 p.m., police said. The man's friend had fallen off his bicycle and the two men left the bicycles at the side of the road as they were going to the hospital.

Tail Pipe Stolen

A man in the 12300 block of Foxborough Drive reported that someone had stolen the tailpipe off his Ford pickup sometime overnight, police said.

MONDAY, JULY 25

Criminal Damage

An Orland Hills man reported that someone tried to break into his car and damaged the door handle to his Chevrolet Blazer while it was parked in the 19100 block of Darvin Drive around 9 a.m., police said.

Identity Theft, Kiwi Style

A man reported that someone had made unauthorized charges to his bank account on July 17 and 18 in New Zealand, police said. The man said he had never been to New Zealand, according to the report.
