Police Blotter: Chucking Phone Books; Juvenile Possession of Cannabis

SUNDAY, FEB. 6

Telephone Books are the New Eggs?

Around 9:40 p.m., a minor flagged down a patrol car at Front and Division streets and told officers people the car ahead of them had just hit him with a phone book while he was walking. The officers stopped the car, which was being driven by Dylan S. Schedin, 17, of the 11000 block of Elmwood Court. There also were two 16-year-old males, two 15-year-old males and eight phone books in the car. The teenagers told police they had gotten the phone books from the Front Street Metra station but denied throwing the books at anyone. Schedin was arrested and charged with juvenile possession of tobacco, failure to signal, unlawful number of passengers and operating an uninsured vehicle. The passengers were charged with breaking curfew. They were released on bond pending a March court date.

SATURDAY, FEB. 5

Juvenile Possession of Cannabis and Drug Equipment

A 16-year-old female was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis (30 grams or less) and speeding, police said. According to reports, the girl was driving her car at 45 mph in a 30 mph zone when an officer stopped her. The driver gave the officer a prescription bottle containing cannabis when he asked about it, and the passenger, also a 16-year-old female, gave him a glass pipe. The passenger was charged with possession of drug equipment. Bond was posted and the two were released to their parents pending a March court date.

Wednesday, Feb. 2

Like Some Bullets with Your Booze?

Lucas H. Ebert, 29, of the 10900 block of Carpenter Street, was arrested and charged with illegal transportation of alcohol, driving without valid registration, driving without a valid driver's license, operation of an uninsured vehicle and improper lane usage, police said. Ebert was headed northbound in his car on Wolf and drifted into the southbound lane, nearly hitting a squad car, police said. The officer in the squad car caught up with Ebert and stopped him. According to reports, police recovered several open beers and two Kel-Tec .38 magazines holding 11 rounds total from the car. Ebert was released on bond pending a March court date.

Warrant Arrest

Curtis C. Mitchell, 38, of the 10700 block of Mary Lane, was arrested on a warrant out of DuPage County, police said. He posted bond and was released pending a March court date in Joliet.
