Pay Boxes Tagged

An officer on patrol at the Hickory Creek Metra lot, 9430 Hickory Creek Dr., saw that someone had spray-painted graffiti onto the pay boxes before 10 a.m. Similar graffiti was found on a light pole about a block away, according to the report.

DUI-Drugs

Shannon M. Rodgers, 30, of the 15400 block of Aubrieta Court in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, driving without insurance, and improper lane usage. An off-duty Orland Park police officer called about a possible drunk driver near the intersection of 195th Street and Wolf Road around 10:45 p.m. The Mokena officer confronted Rodgers in the 11300 block of Front Street, where she had parked. Rodgers told police her dogs were in the car and said that may have caused her to cross into the other lane, according to the report. Rodgers admitted to taking an anti-inflammatory drug earlier in the day, the report said. A kit was prepared at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet and submitted to the Illinois State Police Crime Lab.

Cannabis Arrest

David J. Wall, 27, of the 8600 block of West Flint in Orland Park, was charged with possession of cannabis and drug equipment. An officer on patrol in the 11400 block of West 193rd Street saw Wall parked on the side of the street. As the officer drove by, Wall was sitting in the back seat and popped his head up at 2:15  a.m., the report said. The officer approached the car and smelled cannabis coming from the car, the officer saw a metal cannabis grinder and cigarette papers, and a small bag of cannabis was found on the center console, the report said.

SUNDAY, AUG. 21

Reckless Driving

Christopher L. Scroggin, 24, of the 9800 block of Giles Drive in Mokena, was cited for criminal damage to property and reckless driving, and was issued other traffic tickets. Officers received a call at 3:30 a.m. regarding an SUV driving through Grasmere Park, 10135 Lindsey Lane, and several lawns in the area. Police were not immediately able to find the SUV. At 7:40 a.m., the officer saw the SUV parked at Scroggin home and saw large amounts of sod and mud covering parts of the SUV, according to the report. A resident in the 19300 block of Everett Lane said her lawn was damaged and needed professional repair. Scroggin admitted to driving home from a concert and stated he was not intoxicated but wanted to have "an adrenaline rush," the report said. Police said about 75 to 80 lawns were damaged on Giles Drive, Cambridge Drive, Everett Lane, Willow Lane, Kevin Lane, and Stafford Court.

SATURDAY, AUG. 20

Naked Man Found in Home

Vinson D. Beck, 31, of the 10800 block of Indiana Avenue, Chicago, was charged with felony criminal damage to property and criminal trespassing. A resident in the 9200 block of Arquilla Drive said Beck called her saying he was at the home at 1 a.m. The resident informed police Beck was not allowed at the residence. When officers arrived, they found the garage door was badly damaged from being crashed into. Officers were given permission to enter the home and found Beck lying naked on the upstairs couch, according to the report.

THURSDAY, AUG. 18

Juvenile Charged with Battery

A juvenile was charged with battery. A witness reported that a 16-year-old male kicked out the window of a car around 8:45 p.m. while the car was parked at Gas Busters, 19301 S. LaGrange Rd. The people in the car reported injuries from the broken glass. The incident began when the male victim thought he recognized the juvenile and waved at him, according to a police report. The juvenile then got out of the car and began to swear and become violent with the man, the report said. The juvenile tuned himself in to police on Aug. 19 with his legal guardian. The juvenile claimed the victim made racial comments toward his younger siblings, according to the report. After being processed, the juvenile was released to his legal guardian.
