Police Blotter: Crack Arrest; Man Assaults Woman With Orange Drink

MONDAY, JUNE 13

Walking to an In-State Warrant

Daniel J. Foster, 24, of the 19800 block of Westminster Drive in Mokena, was arrested on an in-state warrant, police said. According to the report, a patol officer saw Foster walking near 191st Street and Schoolhouse Road around 1 a.m. A check of Foster's name found the Will County warrant for failure to appear in court. Foster was released on bond pending a July 12 Joliet court date.

Caught Smoking Crack

Wade A. Williamson, 32, of the 6500 block of Pine Point Drive in Tinley Park, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug equipment, Mokena police said. According to police, an officer on patrol in the 10700 block of Green Meadows Drive near the Metra tracks saw a car enter a parking lot near an apartment complex around 2 a.m. The officer then saw a spark and flame coming from the driver that was consistent with smoking narcotics, police said. A search found a pipe with burnt residue and two baggies with rock cocaine in it, totalling 0.3 grams. The Will County Assistant State's Attorney approved felony charges. Williamson was later taken to Will County Adult Correctional Facility for a bond hearing.

Broken Window

Police were called to Mr. Benney's Restaurant, 19200 Everett Lane, after a customer noticed his driver's side rear view mirror broken. The victim said it happened sometime around 10 p.m. Nothing in the car was taken, police said.

Not Fireworks, but Pot

Amanda M. Bennett, 21, of the 13700 block of Lincolnshire Drive in Orland Park, and Matthew J. Ruinak, 22, of the 7700 block of West Floral Court in Frankfort, were cited for possession of cannabis. According to the report, police were called to the 21300 block of Saddle Lane on a fireworks complaint around 12:30 a.m. The officer saw a car parked outside a residence on Saddle Lane with the dome light on. The officer approached the car and smelled flavored tobacco. The officer later found 9.2 grams of cannabis in the car. Bennet and Ruinak were released on I-bonds, pending a local court date of July 11 in Frankfort.

THURSDAY, JUNE 9

Theft Reported

Police said a ladder rack was stolen from a Mokena man's work van during the overnight hours from June 8 to June 9 in the 19300 block of South LaGrange Road. Police do not have any suspects at this time.

Underage Drinking

Nicholas S. Castillo, 17, of the 10700 block of Westport Avenue in Mokena, was cited for underage drinking. According to the report, Castillo was being interviewed in the 19700 block of Glennell Avenue around 3:00 a.m. after allegedly hurting his arm in another incident. The officer determined Castillo was intoxicated. Castillo posted bond and was released to his fahter. Castillo is due in local court in Frankfort on July 12.

Liquid Battery

Benjamin J. Russell, 22, of the 18700 block of South Leila Drive in Mokena, was charged with battery and criminal damage to property. According to the report, the victim alleged that she and Russell had gotten into a verbal argument near 191st Street and LaGrange Road around 12:50 a.m. Russell then walked up to her car and allegedly threw orange drink in her face. The victim then approached Russell. Russell allegedly poured a 40 oz. beverage on the victim, police said. Russell then ran to his car and fled the scene. Another officer aprehended Russell at 187th and Wolf Road. Russell was released on bond pending a July 13 Joliet court date.

TUESDAY, JUNE 7

ATV Driving Not Street Legal

Alec A. Keselica, 17, of the 17800 block of Sayre Avenue in Tinley Park, was cited for driving an unlicensed vehicle on the roadway. According to the report, a patrol officer in the Jenny Glen subdivision, 18700 block of Summergate Court, saw Keselica riding a gas powered ATV with no headlights on street. Keselica was released on bond and is due in local court in Frankfort on July 12.

MONDAY, JUNE 6

Catalytic Converter Stolen

A Mokena man reported that the catalytic converter was stolen from his Lexus between 6:30 a.m and 6:30 p.m. He was parked at the downtown Mokena Metra station on McGoveney.

More Graffiti

The property owner of the Mill Creek strip mall, located at 187th and Wolf Road, reported graffiti on a fence that enclosed refuse containers, police said. The graffiti was on three sides of the enclosure and contained a racial slur. It occured in the overnight hours of June 6 to June 7, police said.

Lock Plates Picked Off

The property owner of the strip mall at 18806 82nd Avenue reported that someone had pried four door lock plates from door jams in front of four businesses in the building, police said. The report said that nothing was taken from the businesses.
