Police Blotter: Dine-and-Dash With Cops in the Room

Mokena Police reports, Sept. 13-20.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 20

Theft and Disorderly Conduct

Brittany A. Rotto, 22, of the 700 block of Schoolgate Road in New Lenox, and Sarah A. Frazier, 28, of the 10700 block of Mary Lane in Mokena, were cited for theft and disorderly conduct, police said. Police were called to Denny's, 19099 Old LaGrange Rd., after Rotto and Frazier tried to leave without paying their $44 tab at 6 a.m.

The waitress said the two women ordered their food and asked for several items boxed, according to the report. Rotto would go back and forth to the bathroom, and the waitress told police it seemed the women were trying to skip out on their bill, but they were waiting for some Will County Sheriff's deputies to leave, according to the report.

While Rotto was in the restroom, Frazier told the waitress Rotto would pay and Frazier would wait for her in the car. After a few minutes, Rotto left and the waitress chased after them.

They were stopped in the parking lot by the Will County officers,  said.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 14

DUI after Hit and Run

Mark A. Rubino, 46, of the 19300 block of Walnut Street in Mokena, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, operating an uninsured vehicle, and issued tickets for a hit-and-run accident, police said. Police were called to the intersection of 191st Street and LaGrange Road about a possible intoxicated driver who had just caused an accident at 5 p.m. After seeing Rubino swerve and strike a curb, the officer stopped the driver in the 9500 block of 191st Street, according to the report. Rubino appeared to be in a daze during questioning, police said. The driver admitted to taking prescription medication and striking the victim's vehicle, police said. Rubino failed field sobriety tests, police said.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 13

In-State Warrant

Michael A. Pomorski, 51, of the 9900 block of Cambridge Drive, turned himself in to Mokena Police on an in-state warrant at 4:15 p.m. The warrant was issued out of the Itasca Police Department, police said. Pomorski was issued a new court date in DuPage County and released on bond, police said.
