Police Blotter: Hit-and-Run Driver Goes Racist, Other DUI Had 'A Bit Too Much'

TUESDAY, JULY 26

Driver Tells Cops He Had 'Too Much'

Scott Kogut, 40, of the 8800 block of Fairfield Lane, Tinley Park, was charged with drunken driving and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after crashing his 2006 Volkswagen Toureg into the stoplight pole on the southwest corner of 191st Street and 88th Avenue at about 3:30 a.m. July 26, police said. When the responding officer asked how much Kogut had to drink, Kogut replied, “A bit too much,” police said.

Attempted Car Burglary

Someone tried to break into a 2003 Chrysler Blazer at 9:14 a.m. July 25 as it was parked outside a business on the 19100 block of Darvin Drive, police said. The owner noticed his alarm had been activated when he went on break, police said.

Alleged Hit-and-Run

Julie Fordon, 42, of the 11600 block of Roberts, was charged with drunken driving and hit-and-run after she crossed the median of La Porte Road near Francis Road, sideswiping an eastbound car and heading west at about 11 pm. July 21, police said. Fordon became verbally abusive to the arresting officers and made racist statements about the driver of the car she hit, police said.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 20

Car Damaged

Someone keyed and egged a 2008 Infiniti G35 as it was parked in the driveway of a home on the 19200 block of Thornham Lane between 2 and 8 a.m. July 20, police said.
