Racially Motivated Battery?

A white female brought her injured dog to Animal Emergency Mokena, 19110 S. 88th Ave., for treatment. An African-American female veterinary technician had informed the dog owner that she would have to wait because they had gotten in a more severely injured animal. The white female reportedly replied, "So you're just going to let my dog die?" The technician told the dog owner that the injuries were not life-threatening to the dog, according to police. Some time later, the technician came to collect payment for services before they were administered. The dog owner became irate saying, "All you care about is money. Get out of the room!" according to police.

Before the technician left, the dog owner approached the door and pushed the technician in the chest, according to the police report. She later shut the door while the technician was in the doorway, police said. The dog owner took her dog to another location, but as she was leaving yelled racial slurs at the technician, police said. According to the report, the technician said she wanted to press charges, but had not yet returned calls from Mokena Police.

Missing Lug Nuts

A woman reported that lug nut covers had been stolen from her Lincoln while parked at the Hickory Creek Metra Lot. There was no further information available.
