Police Blotter: Teens Take Milk Display; Liquor in Cars

Mokena police reports, March 11-13.

SUNDAY, MARCH 13

Mazda Scratched

A 2009 Mazda3 parked in the 19100 block of Weber Road was reported damaged between the hours of 2:30 p.m. March 12 and 11:30 a.m. March 13. The owner told police the car had a 2-foot-long scratch that went from the front driver's side fender to the driver's side door. 

SATURDAY, MARCH 12

Suspect DUI on 191st

Timothy R. O'Loughlin, 49, of the 11300 block of Hummingbird Lane, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, two counts of improper lane usage and resisting/obstructing an officer, police said. O'Loughlin was stopped after police saw his car weaving, leaving the turn signal on, turning wide onto Wolf Road from 191st Street and driving north in a southbound lane. Police said he resisted arrest and it took two pairs of handcuffs to restrain him. He became verbally abusive and swore at officers during the booking process at Mokena Police Department, according to the report. He posted his driver's license and bond and was released.

FRIDAY, MARCH 11

Suspect DUI on LaGrange

Anthony Russo, 27, of the 19600 block of Beechnut Drive, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, driving without valid registration and two counts of improper lane usage, police said. Police stopped Russo's car after an officer saw it swerve across two southbound lanes on LaGrange, then mount the median, causing sparks to fly out from underneath the car. Russo appeared to be "dazed" and he told police he took painkillers for his back, according to the report. He posted bond pending a court date in Joliet.

These Teens Really Like Milk

Two teenage boys took a large  milk bottle display from Oberweis, 11312 Lincoln Hwy., police said. According to a report, the boys put the 6-foot-by-3-foot display in a 2003 Red Ford Escape with a license plate number VG6480. The boys are described as between 16 and 18 years old, around 5 feet 10 inches and wearing jeans and T-shirts.

Underage Possession of Alcohol

Brandon L. Baker, 17, of the 21800 block of Yellow Finch in Frankfort, was arrested and charged with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor and possession of drug equipment, police said. Baker was a passenger in another teen's car, which was stopped by police after it was spotted turning onto 195th Street from LaGrange without signaling and going 35 miles per hour in a 25 mph zone. Police found a bottle of Hpnotic at Baker's feet, and Baker handed over a gold grinder and red digital scale with residue on them. Baker was released on bond pending a court date. The driver was cited for driving an uninsured vehicle.

Boxed Wine at a Pumping Station

Katherine A. Calderone, 19, of the 18700 block of Rose Lane, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug equipment, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and illegal possession of alcohol by a minor, police said. Calderone was sitting in the passenger seat of a car parked at a pump at Gas City, 19855 S. LaGrange Rd., when an officer ran the license plate and found the car had been impounded earlier in Tinley Park. The officer walked up to the car and saw a box of Franzia wine between Calderone's feet, and Calderone was holding a Styrofoam cup of wine, according to reports. The officer asked if she had any illegal items in her purse, and she handed over nine grams of cannabis and a digital scale. She was released on bond pending an April court date.
