Snitch Leads Cops to Crack Heroin & Prescription Drug Ring, Police Say

The New Lenox police made three drug raids and arrested four alleged dealers after a snitch told them about a supposed oxycodone and heroin ring.

Information from a snitch led the law to make three raids and arrest four in a bid to break up a ring of supposed oxycodone and heroin dealers, police said.

The New Lenox police started rounding up the alleged drug dealers Thursday, arresting a Frankfort man and a woman and two men from Tinley Park over the course of two days.

The cops say they had officers monitoring telephone conversations and eventually arrested 27-year-old Brian Phelan of Tinley Park. Phelan was charged with the possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver after allegedly dealing heroin to a police snitch.

After grabbing Phelan and hauling him off to jail, the police reportedly searched his home. From there, the cops nabbed Christine Bjornson, 43, of 17424 S. 94th Court in Tinley Park and Faraj Mohammad, 21, both of Tinley Park.

Bjornson and Mohammad were charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and drug conspiracy "when they took possession of a large amount of prescription drugs ... from an undercover officer with the intent to distribute the drugs," according to a statement released by the New Lenox Police Department.

The prescription medication Bjornson and Mohammad received from the undercover cop was OxyContin, police said.

After making those two arrests, the cops raided Bjornson's residence. Mohammad went to jail but Bjornson was taken to Silver Cross Hospital "on an unrelated medical issue and charges will be issued upon her release," police said.

The police then embarked on the third leg of their search warrant frenzy and raided the Frankfort home of Edward Fugate. The search was made after Fugate, 48, sold oxycodone to an informant, police said.

Fugate was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. He also was carted off to the county jail.
