South Suburban DUI Arrests, August 5

July 14: Priscilla A. Baker, 18, of Evergreen Park  was charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, no insurance, no driver’s license and battery after a hit-and-run incident near 98th and Washtenaw. Evergreen Park Police said a concerned citizen flagged them down at about 2:13 a.m. after witnessing the accident. According to reports, the resident told police that a car had side-swiped a parked car in the 2700 block of 97th Place. Police arrived on the scene to see the driver of the vehicle, Baker, exit the car and run into a house on the block, police said. According to reports, Baker had slurred speech and used a lot of profanity. After searching Baker’s vehicle, police saw bottles of alcohol and a case of open beer in the back seat of the vehicle. After being taken into custody, police said Baker refused a Breathalyzer test, and spat on a police officer after tussling with him.

Meanwhile, police saw the car passenger, Cody Zimmerman, 20, of Evergreen Park, bending over near the passenger seat, then throw a bottle out of the car. Zimmerman attempted to get out of the car and walk away, police said, and resist arrest. Police charged Baker with battery, driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, no insurance and no driver’s license.

Zimmerman was charged with two counts of resisting a peace officer.

July 28: Kevin M. Robinson, 23, of the 7300 block of West Woodlawn Drive, was charged with driving under the influence, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content more than 0.08, speeding, failure to signal and driving without insurance after a traffic stop near the intersection of 84th Avenue and Lincoln Highway. Robinson was released on bond, and his court date is Sept. 7.

July 28: Wilhelmina C. Collins, 35, of the 5500 block of Cromwell Lane in Oak Forest, was charged with driving under the influence, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content of more than 0.08, illegal transportation of alcohol and improper parking after a traffic stop near the intersection of Elsner Road and Nebraska Street. Collins was released on bond, and her court date is Sept. 4.

July 28: Lekeyon McGee, 27, 3944 W. 19th Street, Chicago, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage at 10:55 p.m. The vehicle McGee was driving had only one working headlight and weaved from the left lane of west bound 183rd Street to the curb lane, in and out of traffic, police said. After police stopped him in the 2900 block of 183rd Street, he reportedly smelled of alcohol, failed the horizontal gaze test and had a blood-alcohol concentration of .159.

July 29: John Morris, 46, of the 8600 block of Monaghan Drive in Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence and driving without headlights. Police spotted Morris driving eastbound on 191st Street, with no headlights and only one working taillight. After officers stopped Morris near 191st and 88th Avenue, they noted the odor of alcohol, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, according to reports. Morris failed field sobriety tests and refused chemical testing. He was arrested, posted bond and was released with a Sept. 5 court date.

July 28: Maria L. Deltoro, 34, of Crest Hill was accused of driving under the influence when police found her passed out behind the wheel of her car, reports said. Oak Lawn police went to the intersection of Cicero Avenue and Southwest Highway around 7 a.m. July 28 after a citizen reported a car stopped in traffic. When police arrived, they found the driver, Deltoro, and a male passenger fast asleep, reports said. Police said that Deltoro had apparently slept through several green lights behind the wheel of her car that was still engaged.

The officer reached inside the car to place it into park when it began rolling forward. As the officer gained control and placed the car into park, Deltoro woke up, reports said.

An open can of Modello beer was found in the center console, along with a glass of what appeared to be a clear alcoholic beverage, police said. As more police arrived, Deltoro’s car was moved off the roadway. She allegedly denied that she had been sleeping. She continued to deny sleeping through several green lights and had a difficult time answering when she had her last drink, police said.Police observed Deltoro’s eyes to be red and watery, and said she appeared “highly fatigued.” The officer said Deltoro admitted to having a couple glasses of wine the day before.

After failing field sobriety tests, Deltoro refused to take a Breathalyzer test reports said. She was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and taken to the Oak Lawn police station. At the  station, Deltoro complained she was in pain from a recent injury and requested to take her medication that was in her car, reports said. Police found a bottle of prescription medicine in Deltoro’s name, that indicated the medication would cause drowsiness and that alcohol may intensify its effects while operating a car or other dangerous machines.

The officer brought the medication to Deltoro, who told police that she is required to take it every 4 to 6 hours, reports said. Due to the state of her intoxication, police said, Oak Lawn Fire Department paramedics were summoned to take Deltoro to Advocate Christ Medical Center. Police said that Deltoro again refused to blow or agree to take a blood-alcohol draw in the emergency room. At some point, she agreed to take a blood test. The doctor asked police what time she had been arrested because Deltoro’s blood-alcohol content was still above the legal limit for operating a car, reports said.

She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Deltoro’s next court date is August 14 in Bridgeview.

July 15: Police were called about possibly intoxicated people in a Cadillac at 7-Eleven, 9985 151st St., around 3:35 a.m. The officer saw a car matching the description drive away north on West Avenue when it swerved heavily, crossing the yellow center line, before it was pulled over, police said. The driver’s breath smelled like alcohol and he failed field sobriety tests, police said. Patrick J. O’Connor, 26, of the 14400 block of Kolin Avenue in Midlothian, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use and driving an uninsured vehicle.

July 29: Timothy McGill, 43, of the 12600 block of Moorland Drive in Homer Glen, was charged with drunken driving. Officers observed him pull into a parking lot and then drive into a large ditch, police said. He was then observed swerving between lanes before he was stopped at 2:49 a.m. at 127th Street and Southwest Highway.  According to the arrest report, he told police he was coming from a Bret Michaels concert at Ridge Fest. He failed a field sobriety test and had difficulty discerning the police radio from the actual officers while he was transported to the station, police said. A breath test resulted in a .189 reading, police said.

July 30: Jacek Dziadkowiec, 25, of the 9100 block of Central in Oak Lawn, was charged with driving under the influence. He was stopped at 3:33 a.m. for speeding and failed field sobriety tests and a breath test, police said.

July 30: Evan Hitt, 34, of the 14700 block of Central Avenue in Oak Forest, was charged with driving under the influence. He was stopped for a burnt out headlight. Hitt failed a field sobriety test and a breath test resulted in a blood alcohol level of .140, police said.

July 29: George Fortier, 36, of the 1000 block of Grandview Avenue in Lockport, was charged with driving under the influence. He was stopped at 2:20 a.m. for speeding, police said. A breath test revealed a blood alcohol level of .198, police said.

July 28: Taylor Callahan, 23, of the 700 block of Greenbay Road in Lake Forest, was charged with driving under the influence and driving without insurance. He failed field sobriety tests and a breath test, police said.

July 20: Police said they pulled over Kyle D. Vigil, 19, of the 17300 block of Harlem Avenue, around 1:40 a.m. Friday, July 20, near the intersection of 67th Court and 172nd Street in Tinley Park. He failed to stop at a stop sign, they said, and didn't have a rear registration plate light. When officers were stopping him, he drove into the curb with his front and rear passenger side tires, according to the report. Police said Vigil's eyes were bloodshot and watery and that he smelled like alcohol. His pupils were very large, according to the report, leading officers to believe he may have consumed more than just alcohol. Two juveniles were in the car with him, police said.

Police said that while searching the car, they found five unopened cans of Miller Lite beer, three opened cans of Miller Lite and one 24-ounce can of Miller High Life that hadn't been opened. Several beers were also found in one of the juveniles' purses, police said. Vigil reportedly failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Tinley Park Police Department. The juveniles were also arrested. One juvenile was charged with underage possession of alcohol and a curfew violation while the other was charged with underage consumption of alcohol. Their parents picked them up from the station, according to the report. Their names were not released because they are younger than 17 years old.

Vigil blew a .076 on the Breathalyzer test and then was taken to Advocate South Suburban Hospital to provide a blood and urine sample, police said. They believed it would show the presence of drugs in his system, they said. Vigil cooperated, despite constantly falling asleep and acting disoriented, according to the report. He was charged with driving a vehicle without a rear registration plate light, disobeying a stop sign, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the combined influence of alcohol, drugs and/or intoxicating compounds and illegal transportation of alcohol.

July 16: Officers recently caught up with a Frankfort woman who they said drunkenly rear-ended another driver on 80th Avenue and drove away. A witness to the crash followed the tan Ford Taurus being driven by Jillian M. Grannon, 25, of the 7800 block of Farmhouse Road in Frankfort. She had moved from the accident scene—80th Avenue and Cartier—and parked in the 7900 block of Bell Rive Court.

Police said when they approached Grannon July 16 as she was standing beside her car with a passenger. She had slurred speech and admitted to driving away from an accident, according to the report, saying she was reluctant to stop on a busy street.

Grannon reportedly failed field sobriety tests and blew a .120 at the scene. She blew a .100 on the Breathalyzer at the Tinley Park Police Department, the report said. She was charged with failure to give information or render aid following an accident, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving without a driver's license on her person.
