South Suburban DUI Arrests, Nov. 18

Driver blows three times the legal limits; cursing, swerving drivers and screeching tires and more in this week's roundup of Southland drunken driving arrests.

FRANKFORT

NOV. 7: Edward J. Arcos, 26, of the 10500 block of Sacramento Avenue in Chicago, was cited for driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content above .08, driving in the wrong lane and driving without insurance at 12:01 a.m. on the 7900 block of Lincoln Highway. He was released on bond and will appear in court on Dec. 4.

OCT. 13: Police pulled over a car for driving 63 mph in a 45 mph zone in the 17200 block of LaGrange Road around 3:10 a.m. The driver’s breath smelled like alcohol, he didn’t have his driver’s license or insurance, he failed field sobriety tests and originally gave the officer an incorrect address, police said. While in custody, he cursed at officers and another person in custody, police said. Jerome L. Edmond, 33, of the 16100 block of Hillcrest Circle in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving an uninsured vehicle, speeding, driving without a valid license and obstructing identification.

OCT. 13: Police pulled over an SUV after seeing it drive 50 mph in a 40 mph zone and weave in and out of traffic lanes near 159th Street and 80th Avenue around 3:30 a.m. The man fumbled his license and other cards in his wallet, his breath smelled like alcohol, he failed field sobriety tests and admitted to drinking before driving, police said. Jeremy J. Boat, 34, of the 16500 block of 84th Avenue in Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level greater than .08, speeding and improper lane use.

PALOS HILLS

NOV. 10: Christopher Kulawiak, 24, of Lockport, is charged with speeding, improper lane use, screeching tires and two counts of driving under the influence, according to a police report. Kulawiak was stopped at about 4:15 a.m. after police clocked his car allegedly doing 95 mph in a 35 mph zone in the 10200 block of Roberts Road. They briefly chased him through a parking lot at 10307 S. Roberts Rd. before he was finally stopped.

Kulawiak was given a field sobriety test, which he failed, according to the police report. He is due in Bridgeview court on Dec. 21.

PALOS HEIGHTS

NOV. 12: John Farrell, 32, of the 18200 block of South Sayre in Tinley Park, was charged with speeding, illegal transportation of alcohol and two counts of driving under the influence, according to a police report. Police stopped Farrell at 9:53 p.m. near 12900 S. Harlem Ave. for reportedly doing 62 mph in a 35 mph zone. Officers arrested him after he allegedly failed field sobriety tests. A test for his blood-alcohol level resulted in a 0.241. He was booked and given a $1,000 bond.

NOV. 11: James M. Allen, 24, of the 6900 block of South Jeffery Blvd. No. 2A in Chicago, was charged with speeding and two counts of driving under the influence, according to a police report. Police stopped Allen's vehicle just before 5 a.m. near 12500 S. Harlem Ave. for speeding. Officers allegedly saw that Allen had bloodshot eyes and could smell an odor of alcohol on his breath. He was booked and given a $1,500 bond.

NOV. 9: Ronald J. Siwinski, 49, of the 8900 block of Riviera Parkway in Orland Park, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without insurance, improper lane use and only having one tail light, according to a police report. Siwinski's vehicle was stopped for improper lane use and for having a tail light out. Officers speaking with Siwinski were able to smell an odor of alcohol on his breath. His eyes also were bloodshot and he spoke with slurred speech, police said.

Siwinski was unable to take field tests for sobriety and submitted to a breath test for his blood-alcohol level, according to the report. Police said that, during a search of the vehicle, several items of drug paraphernalia were uncovered. Siwinksi was booked and given a bond of $3,000.

NOV. 8: Jaroslav Benda, 35, of the 8500 block of West 95th Street in Hickory Hills, was charged with driving without a license, speeding, driving without insurance and two counts of driving under the influence, according to a police report. Benda's car was stopped at about 4:01 a.m. near 11900 S. Harlem Ave. for speeding. Police said he was doing 63 mph in a 35 mph zone. He was arrested, booked and given a $3,000 bond.
