Storage trailer defaced with gang signs

Someone complained that a storage trailer at Blackhawk Parkway was defaced with the "LKN" symbol for the Latin King Nation. The trailer was parked at Blackhawk Properties. Mokena police are investigating the incident.

Senior citizens targeted in residential burglary

An elderly couple in the 9800 block of Giles Drive told police that they were targeted by burglars. According to the report, a man approached the senior citizen in his backyard. Pretending to have just purchased the home next-door, he kept the senior and his wife busy with a conversation about supposed plans to renovate the home. 

Meanwhile, the pretender's partner entered the couple's home and stole two diamond rings valued at $7,500, police said. The burglary was interrupted when the elderly woman moved to go back in the house.

The elderly man told police that once his wife started toward the house, the pretender got on a cell phone, and in a foreign language, had a brief discussion. Then the pretender drove away in an SUV. Police are investigating the complaint.

Three teens arrested for smoking pot

Police say a van was spotted parked in the 10400 block of O'Connell Street with three people inside. Upon investigation, police questioned the driver and smelled marijuana. 

Each of the three, according to the report, was charged with having in their possession less than 30 grams of marijuana. Arrested were:

  • Andrew Regis, 18, of the 10400 block of O'Connell Street
  • Trevor Gait, 18, 11300 block of W. 195th Street
  • Michael Solti's, 18, 19600 block of Scratch Drive

Stolen methadone

Police say a Mokena woman complained that her adult children had a party at her home in the 9800 block of Derby Court. While the party was going on, someone stole a prescription for methadone valued at $100 along with $500 worth of Norco pills. The prescription bottles were stolen from her purse. 

According to the report, she told police that she had confronted the thief but she was ignored. The matter is under investigation.

Threatening letter

Police say a Frankfort man called officers to his place of employment in the 18800 block of Wolf Road after having received a threatening letter. The incident is under investigation.

TUESDAY, OCT. 16

Garage door frame damaged

Someone from the 21400 block of Foxtail Drive told police that the exterior of the garage door was damaged. He discovered pry marks around the lock. No entry was gained, however. The police report was approved on Oct. 22. The matter is under investigation.
