Police: Truck Driver's Passenger Caught with Meth

After responding to a call at the Superwash Carwash, police find suspected methamphetamine and drug equipment in the cab of a semi-truck.

A Colorado woman was charged with possession of methamphetamine April 27 after Mokena police found a baggie of a white, powdery substance in her wallet, according to reports. 

responded to a call at Superwash Carwash, in reference to a semi-truck parked in the parking lot for the previous hour, with the engine running and nobody in the cab around 3 p.m. April 27.

Upon arrival, police made contact with the driver and passenger, who were in the back of the cab.

The passenger, Rhonda L. Preston, 51, of the 5100 block of Bradley Circle, Colorado Springs, Colo., told police the vehicle's owner, Aron S. Novoselesky, 26, of the 800 block of S. Grape Street, Denver, Colo. was not feeling well and that's why they were stopped.

According to reports, while talking with Preston, officers smelled the odor of burnt cannabis and asked if they could search the vehicle. Both occupants agreed to the search.

During the search, officers found a brown wallet containing a blue baggy with a powdery, white substance in it. Preston told officers that it was “Speed,” or meth, and that it was a friend's that she had just picked up off the floor.

Preston told another officer there was also a glass pipe in a duffel bag in the rear of the cab, which officers found in a side pocket in an old sock. A narcotics dog searched the truck; no additional items were found.

Preston was taken into custody and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug equipment, before being taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility to await a bond hearing. Police released the vehicle back to Novoselesky, who hired another driver to complete the trip back to Colorado.

A cat that belonged to Preston was also found in the truck; it was taken to the Frankfort Animal Shelter.
