Two-Week Investigation Leads to Marijuana Bust in Mokena

With the help of a confidential source, Mokena police arrested Orlando M. Giraldi, Jr., on drug charges.

After a two-week investigation that involved a confidential source and controlled drug buys, executed a search warrant in the 19000 block of Clifton Way at the home of Orlando M. Giraldi, Jr., aka “Odo.”

According to the police reports, police twice saw Giraldi exchange marijuana for $100 in marked bills with a confidential informant within the two weeks prior to police obtaining a search warrant for Giraldi's home.

Upon executing the search warrant, police found:

  • six baggies containing a total of 197 grams of suspected cannabis
  • a digital scale with suspected cannabis residue on it
  • two notebooks with phone numbers and accounting information on them—one of which had a list labeled “customers”
  • two pairs of brass knuckles
  • a glass bottle with an unknown yellow liquid in it
  • 12 pills of unknown pharmacology
  • several envelopes containing a total of $1,320—including $90 in marked, Mokena police money
  • a “million volt” zap baton
  • several items of drug paraphernalia—including a “hitter box,” “grinder,” and glass smoking bowl with suspected marijuana residue in it
  •  two pieces of mail addressed to Giraldi, verifying his residence at the home

Police field tested the suspected marijuana at the home, which returned a positive result.

Giraldi, who was not home when the search was happening, arrived home and was taken into custody by the police, who charged him with delivery of cannabis over 30 grams and delivery of cannabis 30 grams and under. Giraldi was taken to the Will County jail to await a hearing.
