Why are you seeking office?

I’m seeking office in hopes of positively affecting change in our school district. Our children and their education need to be at the center of every conversation and decision that we make as a school board.

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

I have two children in the district, and I want to do all that I can to make sure that their education and the education of all of our children are brought to the forefront of the conversation. I believe that my passion and commitment to our children, schools, and community set me apart.

In your opinion, what are the primary challenges facing this district?

The current challenges in our district are similar to the challenges facing many Illinois schools today. We need to provide an appropriate and challenging curriculum to all of our students. We also need to find creative methods for increasing cash flow, while we continue to be mindful of our current resources.

How will you address those challenges?

To effectively address these challenges, it is imperative that we solidify a true partnership with the district administrators. These folks are the professionals who have the experience and knowledge to help us solve the challenges we face today. I believe investing in this relationship will blend the talents of the school board members with the experience of those who are responsible for the day-to-day operations. Therefore, I will focus on establishing this partnership so as to maximize the educational outcomes for our students.

If elected, what will be your philosophy as a board member?

My philosophy as a school board member is a commitment toward balance. We need to provide a strong educational experience for our children while maintaining fiscal responsibility to our community members.
