Why are you seeking office?

I am seeking a position on the Mokena School Board because I believe in the value of a good education. I have lived in Mokena most of my life. I started school in Mokena and continued through Lincoln-Way. Jaymie and I moved back to town because of its strong schools and sense of community. Our three Children will be attending Mokena Schools. As a parent I feel our community has a vested interest in maintaining our high educational standards.

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

In this election we have seven canidates running for four open seats. There are many fine choices for our voters. I have decided to run this campaign on my own. Free of outside influences and the ideas that come with it. My only goal is to help our schools be strong.

In your opinion, what are the primary challenges facing this district?

Our primary challenge is to fine a suitable superintendent. This is the single more important job of a school board. I believe Mr. Steve Stein
was a fine superintendent and we will have a challenge finding a suitable replacement.
After speaking with school staff I can say some of our up coming challenges include updating our curriculum, security improvements, building systems such as HVAC, and parking lots.

How will you address those challenges?

I will work with our parents, board and school administrators to address these challenges. We should be proud to say our school staff has done a great job. As a team we can solve these issues together.

If elected, what will be your philosophy as a board member?

My philosophy is to be open and honest. I will always vote my conscience and be free of outside influences.
