Why are you seeking office?

To bring economic development to Mokena. As a Mokena resident for 23 years, I have seen too many quality stores and businesses choose neighboring towns over Mokena. As trustee, I would make it my primary goal to see that the red tape that stalls, delays and discourages businesses from locating here is streamlined. We need additional tax dollars for our schools so that we can maintain the quality education that has brought many families to this town. Residents are too cash-strapped also, so the Village and schools cannot simply tax our way back to prosperity. Rather, we need to get smart like New Lenox, Frankfort and other towns nearby and bring businesses here that will stimulate the local economy.

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

I have a family with vested interests in this town. We want to make it a place to shop and have fun it, and not simply to drive through and out. I have 23 years of legal experience in dealing with diverse business people from varied backgrounds. As such, I believe that I would be able to assist others in attracting quality businesses here and would not make them go through needless hoops in order to set up shop.

In your opinion, what are the primary challenges facing the village?

People moving out to towns that are presently more attractive in terms of schools and shopping.

How will you address those challenges?

Eliminate needless red tape and hire an economic development team. We need professionals that know how to attract businesses. These people speak the same language as the coordination teams that scout out new towns to put their businesses in.

If elected, what will be your philosophy as a member of the village board?

Ethics, integrity, hard work and commitment to Mokena.
