Board Resolution Asks Gov. to Work With Will County on New Airport

Proposed by board member Cory Singer (R-Frankfort), the resolution urges Gov. Pat Quinn to let the county control a possible third airport.

The political struggle over control of a proposed third Chicago area airport that would be located in Will County will continue Thursday with a county board resolution urging Gov. Pat Quinn to work exclusively with the county on the project.

"I think it's time that this nonsense goes away, and Will County has the respect it deserves to negotiate with the governor and accomplish this goal (of a new airport)," said Will County Board member Cory Singer (R-Frankfort), who proposed the resolution at a March 8 executive committee meeting.

The resolution, which will go before the board at Thursday's meeting, calls for Quinn to end talks with U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson's Abraham Lincoln National Airport Commission, a group of southern Cook County communities that would control the airport authority. Along with believing that the county should control an airport in its own backyard, Singer cited the group's involvement with the Canadian engineering firm SLC-Lavalin, which he said breaks state procurement law. He also pointed to a New York Times report last month that connected Lavalin to a possible plot to smuggle Col. Muammar Qaddafi's to Mexico.

Earlier this year, , insisting the county needs to have control over its operation.

Singer, , said one of the reasons behind proposing this resolution is to show the county's commitment to moving forward on the airport. He also said this is the first sign of Cook County politics encroaching on Will County affairs, an issue that's a key component of his campaign.

Jackson cannot be trusted and although it is not likely , I hope he looses his upcoming election by a big margin, he has a ton of money and a lot of backers from Crook County who would love to see him get his voice into the new airport if it ever gets going. I moved out of Crook county 50 years ago and I hope Will County doesn't get caught up in the kind of politics that run Crook county. Even the thought of Joliet or New Lenox becoming another Chicago scares the hell out of me.

Cory is fighting for Will County's right to govern themselves. Walsh is nothing more than Mike Madison's man in Will County. Madsion does not get to tell Will County What to do. NOR does Jesse, the crook Jackson. I am so sick and tired of this "business as usual" nonsense that is peddled by the Demorats and Chicago Machine!

The only reason they changed the districts is very clearly for Jackson to meddle in our sandbox! Play in your own. You are not wanted down here. We play just fine without you. Don't screw corrupt our community just because you are bored in Chicago.
