The Mokena Downtown Business Association is also requesting approval to run the Front Street Farmers Market for another season.

Mokena may turn into a considerably more festive place come next summer thanks to several event proposals recently pitched to the village board by Tony Dina, president of the Mokena Downtown Merchants Association.

A July Italian Fest and an August Mokena Homecoming Carnival are among the ideas Dina asked to village board to consider.

Dina also request approval on behalf of the downtown merchants association to continue running the Front Street Market for another year. While no decisions were made during the June 24 meeting, Trustee Don Labriola applauded them for how well they've managed the market. He suggested the board consider of a multi-year contract in recognition of their success.
