To get a more in-depth view of candidates, Mokena Patch asked them several issue-based questions.

Four candidates are vying for three seats on the. Incumbent  talked with us about his ideas for bringing new businesses to town, maintaining services and keeping the budget balanced.

What ideas do you have to spur economic development in Mokena?

Since I attended the ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) I would continue to pursue the contacts I made and continue to reach out to developers.

 What ideas do you have for dealing with the village’s decreasing and stagnating fund balances?

We’re fortunate because we have a great administration that has kept us in check. We should keep providing our core services while spending less.

When it comes to budget cuts, what should be off-limits?

Core products and services, things that would really impact our citizens.

Where in the budget should the village cut deeper?

That’s a tough question. We’ve already cut things pretty lean right now.
