Homeowners Recognized in Mokena

Each year, The Mokena Community Affairs Commission enrolls volunteer judges to canvas the community to choose homes that, in the opinion of the judges, contribute to the beautification of the Village of Mokena. Mokena’s Village Clerk, Patricia C. Patt, Chairperson for the event, has announced that residents will be invited to attend the awards ceremony on Thursday, September 29, at 7:00 p.m. at the Pipefitters Local 597 Training Facility, located at 10850 West 187th Street.        Award winning home owners will receive a certificate of appreciation from Mayor Joe Werner and a sign to display on their lawn to acknowledge their hard work and contribution to the Village of Mokena.  Any homeowner recognized three consecutive years will receive a “Lifetime” Beautification Award.

The Beautification Awards Program, started in 1997, acknowledges residences and businesses that display their pride through care and maintenance of their property.  volunteer judges are assigned zones and canvas Mokena’s neighborhoods during the summer for outstanding properties.

For additional information regarding the program or information on how to volunteer as a judge for next year’s program, contact Patricia C. Patt, at 708-990-3153 or e-mail Pat at pbpatt@comcast.net.
