Ford, Spalla, Markham Still Unofficial Winners in School District 159 Race

Carrie Zakula trailed Markham by only five votes in latest count.

Michael Ford, Joseph Spalla and Patrick Markham will take their seats as the newest members of ’s Board of Education, according to the latest unofficial results from the Will County Clerk’s Office.

The three had been the front-runners in an incredibly close race. Originally eight votes ahead of Carrie Zakula, Markham edged her out by only five votes by Tuesday.

Election analyst Becky Gillam said the Clerk’s Office had finished counting ballots Tuesday, but the results would be certified April 26.

The race was close all around, and each of the four candidates received around a quarter of the votes. The current unofficial tallies are as follows:
