Grasmere Park Playground Will Get a New Look

The playground is expected to be renovated by year's end.

Grasmere Park will get a "new-and-improved" playground by the end of the year, said Marianne Jamrok, spokeswoman for the Mokena Community Park District. All of the park district's playgrounds are scheduled for replacement every 14 to 15 years, Jamrok said. The original playground equipment, installed in 1996, was recently taken out of the park just behind Mokena Junior High School.

Jamrok could not say how much Grasmere Park's new playground was expected to cost, but did say the money will come out of the park development fund. She said the park district is still working on the design, and the new playground might be a little bigger than the original one.

Jamrok added there are plans for a new playground in the back of Main Park, too, also expected to be finished by the end of the year.
