Jackson Bound for Mayo Clinic, says Bobby Rush

Likening Jesse Jackson Jr. to injured Bulls superstar Derrick Rose, Congressman Bobby Rush says no one should be calling for Jackson's return to duty now.

Calling Jesse Jackson Jr. the "Derrick Rose of the Illinois delegation" to Congress, U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush says 2nd District residents should give Jackson time to heal.

Rush and fellow Congressman Danny Davis met with Jackson at his D.C. home., then flew home to Chicago for a late Monday press conference, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Davis said he and Rush met with Jackson in person for "a personal assessment of his mental and emotional state" — and during their two-hour talk Jackson cried.

"He has not been derelict in his duties. ... No one is clamoring for Derrick Rose to come back before he should."

Speaking at O'Hare Airport after arriving from Washington, Rush said Jackson left for the Mayo Clinic Monday.

Reports the Tribune:

During their talk, Rush said, there were moments of lightness and moments of despair. At one point, Jackson cried thinking about his illness' effect on his family, Rush said.

Davis said Jackson had a "surprising sharpness and truthfulness about his mental state."

Rush criticized news coverage of Jackson's illness, urging reporters to "take a deep breath and step back."

Mr. Lewis, I hope you have a good attorney due to the slander you have put on Congressman Jackson. You charge he is "Cheating on Sandi" Really, it can be lobbyist or friends of the Jackson's etc. You have campaigned very negative from day one and will not get any traction. How about you have a open bar for your election night and it may attract more folks to come by. Me and a few friends are going to stop by and have a few Jack and Coke with you ( You will buy the drinks).

Congressman Jackson has not been "Charged" yet Mr. Lewis. So for you to speak of him going to jail is very premature. Also Pastor Anthony Williams is far from friends with the Jackson organization. You try and put him down about running for the 7th time. Shame on you, Such a little man you are. I hope you keep posting after you lose on Tuesday night, you really keep me entertained at times.

C.B. The only activity on his facebook page is him and Joe Lake for some reason they sound like the same persons. Also he tends to "like" his own comments.
