Lights Out In Mokena? Only for a Night

Residents and motorists along Wolf Road might have noticed it was a little darker than usual on Sunday night, as streetlights along the road went dark due to a mechanical failure.

Darkness enveloped a stretch of Wolf Road, from Bryant Street to Boyer Court, July 8, after a mechanical malfunction knocked out streetlights, said Mokena Public Works Director Lou Tiberi. Tiberi said that the lights were out Sunday and possibly for a bit on Saturday, but crews were able to fix the problem by Monday.

A failure in the control panel for the streetlights caused the outage. He added that the box controls all the lights along that strip of Wolf Road and that the failure knocked out the entire string of lights.

"It was a mechanical failure inside the lights that we had to replace a part," Tiberi said.

Tiberi said a resident notified the village about the outage.
