Mokena Tightens Watering Restrictions, No More Evenings
The village is going to Tier 1 Orange Zone
This time, it's mandatory.
On Wednesday, Mokena implemented Orange Zone watering restrictions until further notice. This limits watering to odd or even dates based on the last digit of your address, but only from 7 to 11 a.m.
"There will be no more evening watering allowed," Assistant Village Administrator Kirk Zoellner said.

Unlike the Yellow Zone restrictions that have been in place since Monday, Orange Zone policies are mandatory. Yellow Zone restrictions are a request to cut water usage by one-third. The final level, Red Zone, cuts watering to one day a week.
The move to Orange was in large part to reduce strain on the regional system, Mokena Public Works Director Lou Tiberi said in a village press release.

New Lenox, Orland Park and Tinley Park, which along with Mokena receive lake water purchased from Oak Lawn, have instituted similar restrictions, the release said.
