Storage Tank Company Gets Go-Ahead

Pending an official vote next week, a storage tank rental company will fill the spot on 191st Street formerly inhabited by A&M Cartage.

If the Mokena Village Board next week approves a plan they gave a tentative nod Monday night, a storage tank rental company will take the spot on 191st Street vacant since A&M Cartage closed.

During a work session Monday night, the board gave the go-ahead to bring Adler Tank Rentals to town from Markham. The company rents out tanks for the storage of hazardous and non-hazardous liquids and solids.

That doesn't mean hazardous materials should ever make their way to the Mokena location. Richard Marquardt of Adler Tank Rentals estimated the tanks are used to store water from boiler cleans and other projects.

Also, the tanks are never brought back dirty. If a company that rented a tank tries to return it with stuff inside, the drivers just don't pick it up.

"That's the number one thing we train our drivers," Marquardt said.

If the full board approves the measure next week, the company will open up in the old A&M Cartage spot on 191st Street, north of Tinley Park PAWS Animal Shelterand west of the ComEd substation.

An eight-foot fence will shield the industrial tanks from the view of passing drivers.

"I think they're going to be great neighbors, a great part of the community," board member Jim Richmond said.
